Weather Summary:
We are tracking a cold front in the StormTrack 12 Weather Center. The cold front will move out of the southern Appalachians on Wednesday morning and will head into eastern Carolina during the late morning or midday. Rain and possibly strong to severe thunderstorms are possible. We are in a slight risk or level 2 of 5 for storms. The main threat is gusty damaging winds and an isolated tornado. We have a Weather Alert Day for Wednesday. The showers and storms should start to exit the coast around dinner time and clear by around midnight. You can expect a breezy to windy day across the region. Highs are in the upper 60s at the beaches and low 70s inland.
The front will move offshore Wednesday night. Skies will clear overnight. Temperatures will be colder as a high builds into the area from the northwest. Lows will fall into the low to mid 30s inland and upper 30s to low 40s along the coast.
The high will move into the New England States on Thursday. The skies will be sunny, with the high nudging down the eastern side of the mountains. Breezy conditions will remain possible, especially along the coast. Highs will only reach the low 50s inland and at the beaches.
StormTrack 12 meteorologists are tracking a high taking care of us. The work week will come to a close, with mostly sunny skies. The high will be centered over the region on Friday.
You will start off the weekend with the high retreating to the New England States. It will still nudge down the eastern side of the mountains on Saturday. Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny. A wave or disturbance will try to develop along our coast.
The high will remain, but the stationary front will snuggle up next to our coast on Sunday. You will see partly to mostly cloudy skies and a chance for some isolated to scattered showers.
The front will remain in the area for Monday. This will start the week under mostly cloudy to cloudy skies. You will hold onto a chance for scattered showers and cool temperatures.
The coastal front will move toward the east, while another crosses the mountains and another will start across the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys. The skies should be partly cloudy.
Highs will be in the low to upper 50s Friday and Saturday, low to mid 60s Sunday through Tuesday. Lows will be in the low to mid 40s Friday night and Saturday night, mid 40s to low 50s Sunday night through Tuesday night.
